Education for diabetes
Everyone who has been diagnosed with diabetes should be offered a chance to attend an education course. This is best done around the time of diagnosis but can be done later. These courses are called structured education. Find out more about types of structured education here, and ask you healthcare team to refer you to a local course.
Local Diabetes Support Groups and Exercise options
Adjusting to the knowledge that you or a family member has diabetes takes time. It is often helpful to meet other people who have been through a similar situation. They can offer understanding, help and support at an important time. A good way of finding this help is to join a local support group. There are a number of groups in Halton and Warrington offering support for people living with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. With a chance to meet and share experiences with others, they are all run by volunteers and typically meet on a monthly basis, often with a talk on a topic like diet or exercise.
Your local area has many exercise options which could help you manage your diabetes
